THE WORLDS OF DAY DREAM ARABIANS, inc. reaches far beyond the blue fencing of its bustling Santa Ynez Valley location. A typical day begins with the farms 20 Mares and Foals turning out with hand walking between stalls and pastures. During breeding season, much activity surrounds the farm’s stallions Showkayce+, Its SshowTime++, ShowGun++/ and its young guns Signifikaynce and *HI Hello Boy. Daily presentations, client visits and breeding schedules are all managed to accommodate both the stallions and those interested in them. As the show season approaches, plans must made for presenting the farm’s Young Stars at the Scottsdale Show (where Day Dream has consecutively won Champion or Reserve in a Scottsdale Signature Stallion Yearling Championship), the Santa Barbara Show (Cal-Bred Futurities), Regions I, II and III, with the usual addition of Region VIII in Denver. This is in addition to the Sport Horse circuit from Indio in January, to Scottsdale in March, to Pebble Beach, Santa Barbara and other stops through the summer. In the fall, the U.S. Sport Horse Nationals takes center stage where Day Dream leads the way as the Nation’s Leading Breeder and Exhibitor of Arabian Sport Horses. In the fall, the U.S. Nationals becomes the focal point where the get and grandget of Showkayce+ routinely compete in halter, country English Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Halter Futurities and Yearling Sweepstakes Championships. In fact, Showkayce+ is the breed’s only stallion to place on the leading sires list for the U.S. Nationals, Scottsdale Show and Sport Horse Nationals in the same year.
In the fall, owner Carol Steppe often schedules a trip abroad (last year she found and purchased the exciting young stallion *HI Hello Boy), while manager Tiffany Schmidt turns primary attention to weaning the foals and evaluating the young stock for conditioning and training. Amongst and between the events of a typical year, the farm entertains hundreds of visitors from around the world, participates in the Valley of the Arabian Horse Farm and Wine Tour and sends its show horses to numerous leading trainers. Additionally, the farm sells between 15 and 30 horses per year to breeders, exhibitors and trainers in all areas of specialty. So, a typical day at Day Dream Arabians is never...typical. The days around here illustrate why life with Arabian horses is full of fun, excitement, joy and the passion of spending time among some of God’s greatest accomplishments, the Arabian horse. |
